If you were going into the desert for a week with your kids and there wasn’t going to be any access to food or water other than what you bring with you, what would you bring?
I will have a 31′ RV, but don’t want to run the generator all that often, if possible.
So, what would you bring? Leave your comments here before Saturday so I can finalize my shopping list.

Make sure the propane tank is full when you take off; that should be enough to run the fridge and stove for a week. So your main constraint will be how much cooking you want to do in a limited space. If it were me, I’d bring fresh fruit for first few days & canned fruit for after, prepacked breakfast food (pop tarts etc), plan on fish the first night, meat the next few, and then using up frozen. But I always enjoyed the challenge of cooking in those tiny kitchens 🙂
I’d probably plan for lots of sandwiches, cereal, snackbars, juiceboxes and foods that could be really quickly heated so you don’t go through your fuel supply too quickly. Depends on how healthy you want to be! I’d probably have a great supply of chocolate too!
Have a great trip!
5 bars of whole foods organic dark chocolate with almonds, and 5 bars of whole foods organic chocolate without almonds. Oh, and a container of super green powder. I suppose that’s two things, so let’s make it three: a container of psyllium husks. Kathryn Hepburn took psyllium every day and she lived to be, like, a million years old. Wash it down with a nice organic pinot noir and you are golden! Don’t forget your sand skiis! xo LMG
